3rd WEEK(Ist DAY)

today, we fixed gt2.

this are the step taken by us:


  • We open the breaker in 11 kv room, then we check the turbine generator circuit breaker,it was in a good condition

    · We check the fuse F1,20A,DC and we figure out it was in good condition.Then we check the relay K84(RELAY CIRCUIT BREAKER CLOSE) and K85(RELAY CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIP & CLOSE ENABLE), CBCS( circuit breaker control switch),K114(RELAY DSM GEN SENSE ENABLE), PT(POWER TRANSFORMER)

· Check the supply power VDC
· OFF the breaker in transformer panel
GREEN-CLOSE BREAKER”ON”
RED-OPEN”OFF”
· Open AUX TRANSFORMER FUSED SWITCH
· Charged the battery breaker(52G)
· Unfortunately we failed to synchronize the relay after we switch on
· We change 2 new relay for K28(RELAY GTG SYNC ENABLE) and K5

· We test “ON” but still failed
· We shut down again and check fuse at GENERATOR CURRENT BREAKER CUBICLE,(OK)

· From PLC, check TB-B-K27-14 AND TB-B-K27-11(OK)


OVERTIME
· Check forwarding fuel pump lamp no 1 & 2
· Check supply from PLC, if K27 not function means K85 also not function (OK),
· TEST RUN at the synch breaker control “failed”


· Check back K114,25Aand B,7K10,6K10 AND it was “ ok”
· We figure out the problem was actually cause by untight wire at K1(RELAY POSITIVE SHUT DOWN MASTER). After we tight back the wire properly and tested on ,the GT2 start running. GT2 ON AT 11.45

2nd WEEK (4TH DAY)







i'm wif MAT Replace back motor at GT1(Gas Turbine) to storage tank because the original motor for GT1 was already fixed. the motor is less horsepower than the motor at storage tank(3Hp). da problem we faced at dat time we are running out a suitable connector BUT dat's a small matter for MAT because his so expert in this field.. and we coorperate wif mechanical college to help us by winding the box for motor place. lastly we need to make sure the motor running clockwise rotation otherwise the oil that should be send to the engine transmit back to the storage tank...huhuhuh

SECOND WEEK(3RD DAY)





























today i'm wake up in the early morning coz i wanna to learn how to start engine 3B(DG6B) wat a fantastic moment!!!!! it's about 7.15 am i went to control room to see the real demonstration from uncle ALADDIN. There is are step to start up the big engine(DG6B):





  1. raised "Governor Speed Low/Raised"(GS L/R) button until 500 rpm



  2. then ON (Auto Voltage Regulator-AVR) then raised untill exceed 11kv


  3. ON synchronizing and make sure its clockwise rotation and stop it between 12. this situation means the engine already synchronize with other engine



  4. raised speed( GS L/R) until the POWER 3MW(for the first reading)



  5. lastly set AVR until the PF=O.95

    FOLLOW the step(1-5) for other engines



around 9 am i'm with electrical gangs participate BOMBA TALK, THEN MKN FREE HAHAHAH, we also practise fire drill and participate the competition that held by them. our departments won the game.HOORAYYYY~~~~~!!!!



we need to running as fast AS FURIOUS to turn off the fire

second week(2nd day)


hohohoh.... i take 1/2 day working coz i got emergency case(secret....hehe)

in the afternoon, i've learn wat we are going to do if TAWAU black out!!!!



  1. take order from LDC (LOAD DESPATCH CENTRE) isolate from grid system , BREAKER 33 kv KABOTA(ECG1 & ECG2) and BUS COUPLER(IWO) should be off( ECG refer to east cost grid)

  2. we should identified the damage (operation system and onn all blackstart)

  3. record listing alarm and trip relay(control room and switchgear room)

  4. reset all alarm and relay except got problem

  5. the things that we should do in control room and switchgear room


  • turn "off" all feeder in 11kv and 33kv

  • 11kv IPP(independent power producers) BACKFEED "off"

  • 11kv left and right bus coupler and bus section shoul be on

  • all breaker diesel engine(DG) set "off" except gas turbine 1 and 2 (GT1 & GT2)- coz own breaker

  • 11kv/33kv inter bus terminal(IBT1 & IBT 2) "ON" as remote position

  • 33 kv link 1&2 "onn"

  • 33kv/11kv IBT 1&2 "ON"

  • station auxiliaries 1,2,3,4 "off" until get supply

  • make sure they synchronize before restore supply back to power station

SECOND WEEK, 1ST DAY

well2,,, i'm wearing nice tudung this morning coz technical audit will visited us..
so our company a little bit busy, coz those rat love to smell a slackness from us.heheh

this morning my task to understand the user manual brand ratamas.he told me to figure out how to set back the reading digital to zero. wat a headache!! my eyes become iritating again..wawawa. we need to set up this because got exponential in that reading, we dun wanna this situation happen. the function of this things is it can read how many oil in litter that being used by gas turbine 2

so we will work it on saturday, because the turbine must be shut down.

4th and 5th day

4th day

a lot of safety and prevention need to be considered in here. As we know prevention is better than cure, so even we think that's small matter it's become problem to the employers when its bring accident.

week our company will be visited by "juruaudit"., they job are to make sure all the safety in the distribution site follow the rules and regulation that are specify by them. so my SIR order us to make sure all the things that comment by them b4 this are done by us .

about 10.30 am, we have visited by speacialist from Sandakan, the purpose he came to set up the relay in 33kv room. actually there have a faulty over there.

at the afternoon, i follow matsarizal to GT2 control room, i want to check up wat specific push button i need to order, i'm not sure about the current ratings, so i go down to check up the voltage, then i found it's 3 phase so it' 415 v. nad then i calculate the current, it's rating below 15 ohm, so i give him suggestion to take

5th day

we do the houskeeping and fixed the lamp at 11kv room. i went to oil pump station and do some interview, he said that they will pump the oil from the lorry about 14 times everyday, and it's around 100, 000 littres, wow!!!! but it's depand by the engines.

when clean up the room in 11 and 33kv room, we need to oen the big door so that we got fresh air, otherwise we will be fainted inside there.

3rd DAY

wat a happy moorning for me coz i got enaugh sleep...hoorayyyyyyyy!!!
today my engineer, SIR(Mr.Jimmy)was given me a small task. The task is to research the price about small compartment named Amphenol ms3106a18-1s.

after i 've finished my work i'm asking him wat he done for his final project.And i'm asking him wat idea he can give me about my project..uhhuu. after we spend time about an hour, he gave me another task, this time he ask me to find the push buttons brand Knockner Moeller from germany. this time i've got headache for a while because it's take me about an hour to find them, we need to other the new push buttons for GT2(GAS TURBINE 2)

my second day

as usual i went to the office at 8.00am, this time i'm with Mr Jimmy a young engineer in SESB, actually i prefer to call him SIR, because he's look like lecturer for me. i'm helping him to search the electrical magazines in the website..after i'm finished it, i felt bored bacause i do not have anything to do..i can't go down to the site coz i'm not yet got safety briefing from them, so he not allowed me. but then i take the initiative by doing my blog and report and doing stuf like surf internet to figure out wat idea should i propose for my project. my eyes become iritating coz i'm just infront of my laptop until lunch hour.

i'm coming back to the office, this time i hope i got job to do!!!huuhu... i'm asking him any job i can help, so he told me to hold the umbrella for matsarizal and shahrin because they doing the maintainence for the induction motor turbine.the bearing motor was damage cause by the vibration is not good this happen because the stator and rotor which always keep rotating will got friction and sparkling, and can increase the temperature in the motor.this condition was not good. but after we fixed them we need to make sure that the bearing rotating in right direction that is clockwise. at the first we've got wrong direction, so we change back the connector(ask rizal)

While other technician uncle samad and uncle christopher clean up the vacumn which is to suck the oil from tank1(small tank). inside the tank is probably including water. so we need to seperate the oil from water. to make it happen, the liquid is tranmit to the machine named Alfa level MOPX 210TGT-20, this machine is self cleaning oil eperators or using the concept centrifuges.here is a little bit explanation:

The purpose of seperation
-to free liquid of solid particles
-to separate 2 manually insoluble liquids with different densities while removing any solid present at the same time
-to concentrate and separate solid particles from a liquid

Sedimentation in a settling tank , with outlets making it possible to separate the lighter liquids parts from the heavier according to the difference in density of the liquid

In a rapidly rotating bowl, the gravity force is replaced by centrifuge force, where can be a thousand time greater.
-separation and sedimentation is continuous and happen very quickly
-the centrifuge force in the separator bowl can achieve in a few seconds what takes many hours in a tank under influence of gravity.
A centrifuge is a piece of equipment, generally driven by a motor, that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis, applying a force perpendicular to the axis. The centrifuge works using the sedimentation principle, where the centripetal acceleration is used to evenly distribute substances (usually present in a solution for small scale applications) of greater and lesser density.

Centrifuge separator machine very important as i mention it above. the engine need clean oil otherwise our machine will effect it and cause them damage. The process is:
  1. the oil from storage tank that is probably including water and insoluble liquids send to the centrifuge machine by vacumn.
  2. the machine seperator will be purify the oil and transmit the clean oil to the service tank in GT1( gas tusbune 1)
  3. the rest will be send to the big oil store tank

My First Day in SESB

my first day was not bad... eventhough i'v fell a little bit cold, my heart beating a little bit fast..hehe.. but after that i'm relief because people in here so kindness and warm.They look like's family for me.
my supervisor was mr Jimmy Jumin.. maybe he's kadazan dusun..(i'm not asking him yet). He was intruduced to me to his member working under him(anak buah). under him was mr.patrick, and have 2 young guy named Matsarizal and Sony.. both of them are new technician.

Matsarizal was the person who brought me to meet others and introduced to the machines and big engines that found here.I went to Control Room, the function of this place is to control the engines so that is a function well..they control the oil that used by the engines.. here we've got 4 genset and 2 gas turbine. the person who's incharge here is Mr. Aladdin or i'm prefer to calling him pak cik Aladdin. he explain to me a little bit about his job.he said every an hour he should read the meter reading, the temperature, the oil that being used by the turbine..then from here he can know how much power that being used by the users(power demand), so he should supply the approprite power to the costomers.. (power generations). If the power supply so high than power demand means SESB will got losses. So he's job very important to maintain the power that produce..

the next place i've visited is the control room to control the turbine 2, they used turbine that being used in aeroplane.here i'm meet Mr Christopher, he's kind pak cik, welcomed me with a smile and explain to me wat he's doing in that small room.he said to me that he's job to control the turbine temperature, if the temperature very high, the turbine might be explode. If blackout, they used battery(acid sulfuric) to produce the supply power, they placed them in the small room.

after i visited all the place, Matsarizal brought me to their office.inside they i've meet 2 practical student from Politeknik KK and a training technician named Shahrin. He helping me by lend his book and notes that he studied during his training session.

i stayed here until 5 pm

I can't wait doing my practical next week!!!!

what a happy day.... i'v already finish my exam this morning!!! hooray!!! emmm... i 'm going to start thinking wat i'm going 2 wear on monday...heheh... but da important things is my preparation in all about power system knowledge.. i hope my instructor is kindness and willing to help me all the time i need him especially about engineering ...ehem.. i hope his young!!! hahahha
